Rugby Profiles |
Welcome to the official rugby CV of 22 year old Australian open-side flanker Rowan Perry. Perry, from Alstonville New South Wales began his rugby with local rugby club Wollongbar Alstonville Rugby.
In 2014 Rowan played with the Canberra Vikings in the NRC and also represented Australia Under 20’s in the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Perry joined the ACT Brumbies wider training squad in 2015 for the Super Rugby Season and continued with the Canberra Vikings in the NRC.
Perry is an openside flanker that is confident and reliable on the ball and has the ability to force turnovers on the ground. He carries with great energy and always leads by example in every game. Perry has been compared to Michael Hooper and according to many, he is arguably even more effective at the breakdown.
In 2016, Perry made the move from ACT Brumbies to join the NSW Waratahs in full pre-season. Perry was a standout in the last trial game for the NSW Waratahs versus ACT Brumbies who had many Super Rugby and Wallaby representatives. Rowan continues his rugby in Sydney with Easts in the Shute Shield where he was a standout player. He went on to finish the Shute Shield season in the Top 5 for the Ken Catchpole Medal for the best player in the competition.
Rowan has recently joined the NSW Country Eagles in the Australian NRC competition where he has lead his side to two victories out of two games and was also named Man of the Match for his standout performance versus the Canberra Vikings.
Outside of rugby, Rowan is a qualified personal trainer and an avid surfer. He also loves travelling. Rowan was born in Sri Lanka and is in the process of obtaining his Asian Passport. He is hoping to get a contract with a Top League side in Japan.
